Online shopping revolutionizes the way we shop. There are tons of product offerings, merchants and marketplaces available on the Internet for you to choose from. With that being said, the money we spend on shopping online can quickly add up, so we’ve prepared some tips and tricks that can help you save money while online shopping.
1. Look out for coupons!
Search for online shopping coupons before making any online purchases. Online coupon sites offer tons of online vouchers, promotions and coupon codes for you to use on your purchases. For most coupon sites, you can get your coupon codes for FREE! To redeem the discounts, you just need to grab the code from the site and apply it when you checkout!
So, whether it’s a new designer handbag or a 2-day trip to Maldives that you’re planning to buy online, there might just be an extra 50% off coupon waiting to be used.

2. Stalk them on Facebook
Like your favourite brands on Facebook! Many retailers, such as Uniqlo and Zalora, will announce site wide promotions or update fans about special coupons and offers on their Facebook pages. Some online stores are even willing to reward you with additional discounts on your next purchase when you tag them on Facebook and Instagram, or write reviews about their products.
3. Sign up for Newsletters
Sign up for your favourite retailer or coupon site’s email newsletters. By doing so, you can get special offers and discount codes delivered straight to your inbox. Lazada, Hermo, Say Fashion and a few other online merchants will email you a discount coupon just for signing up.
4. Do some Research
Compare online and offline (in-store) prices if possible. In some cases, there may be slight differences in the prices offered online and in the retail store. At times, special promotions and discounts will only be offered online. For example, Uniqlo was having a sale for a particular item on its online store while it was selling at normal price in it’s retail stores.
5. Free Shipping FTW!
Some online stores offer free shipping and some don’t. Most online stores we’ve come across will require you to spend a minimum amount to qualify for free delivery. Make sure that the online store you’re shopping at offers free shipping; delivery can cost a bomb at times.

6. Read the Return Policy
Merchants such as Lazada offer a 14-day return policy on their clothing items. While some allow you to return the items for free, some others allow it with a minimum delivery charge. It can save you tons of money if you know the online retailer’s return policy, especially if you’re not completely satisfied with the item that you’ve purchased.
